Anything can happen in the woods.
Based on the work of Rudyard Kipling, The Way Through the Woods will take the audience on a journey through a magical and unruly world where common sense has become lost and logic is turned on its head.Centring on a brother and sister, divided in youth and united again by the death of their father, the production explores themes of grief, change and what it really means to grow up.
We use a combination of physical theatre, contemporary dance and puppetry to create our work. The underlying principle is ‘play’- in the same way that children create imaginary worlds that are terrifying and beautiful through their games. This is a production that on the surface looks like fantasy, but like all the best works of this kind (Tolkien and Pullman), has its roots in the real world.
The Way Through the Woods is already in development and will be performed for the first time at The Pleasance, Islington in September/October 2009. There will be a work in progress showing in March 2009 so that we can show you how we have been getting on and you can give us your feedback.
